Cuesta Grande

A wine made from 100% Tinta de Toro, a variant of the famous Tempranillo, the Spanish red grape par excellence born at the heart of Rioja and the Rio del Duero. It produces aromatic, hugely refined wines. It is the primary grape in the Toro appellation.

Description

Winemaking techniques

Harvesting by hand in 15kg crates, then sorting by hand on a conveyor before and after de-stemming. Cold pre-fermentation for 4-5 days at 6°C with intense extraction, punching down and pumping over before alcoholic fermentation, followed by a long period of maceration on the skins (one month) with regular pumping over. Matured for 14 months in French oak barrels.

Tasting notes

Density of flavour, ripe, intense and expansive but full of detail, tending towards Mediterranean spice and blackberry. Acidic tension gives the tannins an electric charge, providing an immediate sensation of radiance and welcoming.
