Le Traou de l’Ouille

Mas Janeil white is made from the last very old white vines, left forgotten at Mas Janeil, in the plot known as ‘le Traou de l’Ouille’. As the name suggests, this old Grenache Gris and Macabeu is located in a ‘hollow near the stream’. The soil – made up of alluvium, limestone pebbles and granite moraine – places the vines under stress and gives the wine a very mineral form of expression.

Winemaking techniques

Harvesting by hand in 25 kg crates at perfect ripeness, after grape tasting. De-stemming and gentle pneumatic pressing. In 600-litre barrels followed by yeast stirring. Matured in new 600-litre French oak barrels for 10 months.

Tasting notes

Slightly golden white colour, beautifully bright. Complex nose combining fresh fruit (white peach) with white flower and toasted aromas.

Rounded with a vanilla touch on the palate and good balance of acidity, giving it freshness. The finish is lingering, with an elegant return for oaky, hazelnut and vanilla notes.
